Camp Street Studios was established in 2022 by New Orleans–based artists and co-founders Sara Madandar, Tom Walton, Nurhan Gokturk, Cristina Molina, and Ryn Wilson, with the generous support of Michel Rees-Hill and Jennifer Rees-Hill. The building, located at 822 Camp Street, was constructed in 1853 and designed by renowned Louisiana architect Henry Howard. Known for his thoughtful use of space and interior planning, Howard designed buildings from the inside out, prioritizing openness, comfort, and humane proportions. True to this vision, the historic structure has been thoughtfully transformed into an inviting gallery with working studio spaces.

Rooted in gratitude for the inherent generosity of artists, Camp Street Studios embraces a spirit of reciprocity by fostering an affordable and sustainable workspace within a historic building in downtown New Orleans. Through exhibitions, open studios, direct connections to patronage, and active community engagement, Camp Street Studios supports and honors the ongoing development of artistic practice.Today, the space houses sixteen studios and is home to thirteen artists, serving as a dynamic site for artistic production, exhibition, and exchange.
